Not everyone needs orthotics. But they do have their place in an overall treatment plan for certain conditions. Orthotics are custom made to the shape of your foot. They are designed to reduce the force or strain on a given area. And they most commonly will be flexible.
Orthotics also form only a part of our overall treatment plan. What is a treatment plan? A treatment plan is a written document we prepare that lays out how we (the Podiatrist) & you (the client) are going to work together to relieve your pain & get your back to the activities you love doing. This plan will document the diagnosis (what’s wrong), the cause (why am I in pain), the treatments required (this may include one or more of the following – flexible orthotics, acupuncture/dry needling, foot mobilisation, cold laser therapy, stretching/strengthening exercises, footwear changes & activity modification) & a time frame for how long this problem may take to resolve. So an orthotic while important, is often only a part of the treatment plan.
If you want to know more about orthotics & whether they might help you, call our clinic or make an appointment online by clicking the “Book Appointment” button.
If an orthotic is required, we take a 3D scan of your feet and then a comfortable, flexible pair of orthotics will be made to fit your shoes. Orthotics can be
made to fit most shoes. For further information call the clinic or make an appointment online by clicking the “Book Appointment” button.
