Clinic News & Updates
New Experienced Podiatrist Joining Our Team
Joel Urban will be commencing us here at Healthy Life Foot Clinic next week. Joel’s first day with us will be on Tuesday, 25th March. Joel is originally from Adelaide and graduated as a podiatrist from the University of South Australia 25 years ago. Joel has since worked at a number of different podiatry centres including Sydney City Podiatry, Holdsworth House Medical Centre, Chatswood Foot Clinic and Hills Sports Medicine Bella Vista.
Outside of Podiatry Joel was actively involved in ‘Good Willow Huntington’s Charity’, creating and organising an event which raised $30,000 for the Huntington’s association of SA/NT in support of a close friend and survivor of Huntington’s disease.
Joel has a keen interest in sports podiatry with close associations with various AFL and A-League teams. Moreover, Joel was a SACA Contracted Cricketer in the late 1990’s so he’s well versed and experienced in the management and understanding of foot and lower limb sporting injuries.
We eagerly await Joel’s start date as his experience will provide a great balance of expertise and talent at Healthy Life Foot Clinic. To learn more about Joel, you can find all his details at this page on our site.

Autumn Foot Health Tips
Just a few simple tips to remember when shopping for new shoes, boots or sporting footwear:
- Purchase New Footwear After Activity
When it comes to purchasing new footwear or boots, be sure to try shoes on after you’ve been walking or active for a few hours. Feet can swell a little throughout the day so it’s important to try footwear later in the day to allow for any swelling and a more comfortable fit. - Don’t Forget Socks (and Orthotics if you wear them)
Always try on new footwear with the socks you intend to wear so you can ensure that correct fit is achieved with both your shoes and socks on. If you wear orthotics, make sure you remember these as well. A lot of problems can arise through improper fit. - Choose Appropriate Footwear
Shoes for lawn bowls won’t quite cut it on the footy field. Make sure your shoes are appropriate for the activity you plan to participate in. If you need advice on appropriate footwear, our podiatrists can help.

Special Feature: Heel Pain in Children and Adolescents
It’s that time of the year again when Sever’s Disease (i.e. heel pain in children) commonly strikes. It often starts with preseason training and can get progressively worse with very active children between the ages of 8 to 14 years.
It can be extremely frustrating for players, parents, grand parents and coaches but it doesn’t have to be. If you notice your child, or a child you know, is limping after sport, chances are we can help.
We’ve got a whole article on this problem and the information is completely free. You’ll find all you need to know at this webpage on our website: https://www.healthylifefootclinic.com.au/my-child-has-heel-pain/
