Joel Urban

Joel returns to his hometown after 22 years in Sydney where he worked in a multi disciplinary sports medicine clinic with sports doctors and exercise physiologists . During that time he regularly treated professional A league soccer players from Western Sydney Wanderers, Sydney FC as well as some Socceroos and Matilda’s while also providing podiatry for the UTS Bats AFL club ( division 1 amateur league )

Joel has extensive experience, skills and interest in diagnosis of injury , biomechanical analysis (including running / walking gait assessment) and sport/ activity specific design and manufacture of custom foot orthoses. Rather than a one size fits all approach , Joel believes in a tailored approach to the activity and footwear requirement

In terms of treatment outcomes Joel is committed to helping his patients return to pre injury activity levels pain free and enjoys working with motivated patients to achieve these outcomes

• Assessment and diagnosis of lower limb injuries ( acute and chronic )
• Biomechanical assessment including walking / running gait analysis
• Prescription and manufacture of custom foot orthoses
• Paediatric podiatry and sports podiatry for active kids including treatment of growth related pain like severs
• strapping and footwear modifications to help ‘off load’ injuries
• Radial Shockwave therapy
• Rehab strengthening programs and supervision of gradual return to full activity

Outside of work life Joel is married to Lucie who is also a returning proud South Australian and they have a Beaglier breed dog ‘Bowie’

Joel has a strong interest in the AFL and has assisted the Port Adelaide AFL club mens program full time recruiting staff since 2011 including scouting NSW / QLD U18 talent to provide information for the national draft

Joel hopes to provide empathetic support to his patients as he guides them on a path to recovery or maintenance
